The Hunter College Department of Urban Affairs & Planning Needs Candidates
The Hunter College Department of Urban Affairs & Planning is seeking candidates for two positions beginning Fall 2007. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in urban planning, public policy, or a related social science discipline. Rank is open and positions are tenure track. The candidates should be prepared to share in departmental governance, have an active research agenda, develop and teach courses (at both the graduate and undergraduate levels) in any combination of the following areas:
- Non-profit management
- Sustainability and environment
- Urban infrastructure
- Healthy communities
- Urban social policy
- Housing
Hunter College is part of the City University of New York and is located in the heart of Manhattan. The Department offers a Masters in Urban Affairs, a Masters in Urban Planning, and an undergraduate Urban Studies major. The department currently consists of eleven full-time faculty members and serves more than 200 graduate students and a comparable number of undergraduates. Students and faculty are actively involved with community organizations, city agencies, and other clients in the New York metropolitan region through many venues, including studios and applied research courses, individual research, and projects conducted by the department’s Center for Community Planning and Development.
